Confidentiality Policy

One of the hallmarks of therapy is confidentiality. That ensures that our discussions will stay between the two of us, and record of your sessions will be kept in a protected and private manner.

There are some limits to confidentiality, and they are only put in place so therapists can support their clients best. Those include:

  • If there is risk of harm to you or someone else, specially a child, I would have to report that.
  • If you disclose any abuse by a health professional, I would have to report that.
  • If the court ever subpoenas your documents, I would have to abide by that request.
  • If I need to consult with a consultant, I would do so without disclosing any identifying information of my clients.

Confidentiality in Public:

  • To ensure your privacy and confidentiality in public, I will not greet you unless you greet me.

Confidentiality for Parents whose teenage children are in therapy:

  • My consent form notes that parents can discuss scheduling of appointments and payment of sessions for their teenage children.
  • I would not be able to share any therapeutic progress or clinical information with the parents, unless I have written consent from the client.
